Using a Non-Toiveled Crockpot

Hi,

We went away for the weekend and ordered a brand new crockpot, we filled it with chulent and its right now cooking.

We forgot to toivel it, can we eat it?

  1. The Rama, Yoreh De’ah 120:16, rules that if one used a vessel that requires tevilah without toiveling it first, the food remains kosher. However, Lechatchila, as soon as one realizes, they should remove the food from the vessel. That means the best course of action is to stop the cooking process temporarily and to toivel the pot. After toiveling you can put everything back in the pot to continue cooking it.

    Bedieved, if that is not feasible then the cholent can be eaten but you should take care to toivel pot as soon as possible.
