    The Jewish New Year – called Rosh Hashanah – is on the first day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. It commemorates the creation of the first human being – Adam. Jewish months follow a lunar calendar which means that the date fluctuates compared to the solar calendar but the month of Tishrei normally falls out in September but, on very rare occasions, the new Year can also be the very beginning of October.
