    Okay, Kabbalah. Firstly, as you probably learned in your first (and only!) class so far, the Kabbalah is an integral part of Judaism. The origin of the word Kabbalah is “to receive,” and one cannot receive the wisdom of the Kabbalah without expert guidance since the Kabbalah offers one the ability to enter into the top levels of understanding the Torah. It is esoteric and cannot be understood in its pure form. It is the writings of the Arizal that allow us some insight into the Kabbalah. However, learning the Kabbalah before one has mastery over the entire spectrum of the Torah is a little like trying to run before you can walk.

    There are some very basic books in English that provide a very limited introduction to the subject.

    No authentic master of Kabbalah will teach it to anyone who is not an expert in the revealed dimensions of the Torah. As I have mentioned in the past, wanting to learn Kabbalah before a through grounding in the revealed Torah is the equivalent of teaching a baby to run before they can crawl.
