“Soul Splitting”

Question

I have a question about souls. Is it possible for a soul to split into two and be in two different bodies at the same time? If so, what is the purpose for this?

    I am not really familiar with such a concept (although that does not mean that it doesn’t exist). The closest idea that I can think of is what the Rabbis teach: when a couple marries, it is as if two souls become one. But, this is not really the same concept as one soul that is split into two bodies.
