Shema – Right Hand or Left Hand

Hi,

I was wondering if a 4 year old boy is left handed, which hand does he say shema with, the right hand or the left one?

    The Halacha is that the right hand should be used to cover the eyes by everyone – regardless of whether they are right handed or left handed, Mishna Berura Siman 61:17. The various authorities explain that the reason for using the right hand is because the left hand is already occupied with holding the Tzitzis. There are also Kabbalistic reasons for using the right hand, see Sefer Od Yosef Chai, Parshas Vaeira 2.
