Answers
According to the Halacha, it is permissible to shave the back of the neck using a razor.
Halachically there are five places on the face that it is forbidden to shave with a razor. They are the upper and lower jaw bones on either side and the chin. All other places on the face you may technically shave with a razor. ‘Technically,’ because from the edge of the cheek to the edge of the upper jaw bones is a very fine distinction. Going too close to the jaw bone while trimming your cheeks is very risky.
Because the prohibition of shaving with a razor involves five negative precepts, one should only use an electric shaver that has been approved. One who shaves his entire fact with a razor has committed five ‘Aveirot’. One who shaves his temples transgresses two more precepts.
