While it is true that the tribe that was involved in the Services in the Holy Temple were the Tribe of Levi and it is also true that the spiritual leadership of the Jewish People often came from the Tribe of Levi, nevertheless, being a Rabbi was never the exclusive domain of the Tribe of Levi and throughout Jewish history (starting with Joshua, Moses’ successor) the Rabbinic mantle has always been open to everyone.
