Visiting the Grave of a Loved One During the First Year

Question

Can I visit grave of my recently August 3 2024 diseased husband on Yom Kippur, I heard not to visit. for 12 month

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my condolences on the passing of your husband. May Hashem comfort you and your entire family among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

    It is best not to visit the grave until after the end of the twelve months. The Rabbis teach that the first year after the passing, the soul of the deceased is being judged, and it is a spiritually difficult time. If you feel that you have an overwhelming need to visit the grave, you may do so, but not on Yom Kippur itself.
