Rich and Poor

Question

“For God will not famish the soul of the righteous, but the property of the evil he demolishes.” (Proverbs 10:3)

If so, why are many wicked people rich and many honest people poor?

    Because the only “wealth” that matters is spiritual wealth. The Rabbis teach that, very often, God grants the wicked success in this physical world so that they do not have any merits left in the World to Come. In the same way, very often, the righteous live a life of poverty in this world so as not to use up any of their precious merits that they have earned in the World to Come.
