Religious Zionism

Question

I am exploring the topic of Zionism. I understand that most ultra-Orthodox great Rabbis were against Zionism and the State of Israel. Were/Are there any ultra-Orthodox great rabbis who supported it?

    Yes, certainly.

    The three “biggest” names in the modern Religious Zionist ideology are Rav Zvi Hirsch Kalisher, Rav Yehudah Shlomo Alkelai and, of course, Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook. Rav Kook is really regarded as being the founding father of the Religious Zionist ideology, and his influence is as strong today as it was just prior to the establishment of the State of Israel.
