Reciting Shema When Late to Minyan

Question

If I am late to minyan and therefore not davening at the same pace as them, and I recite Shema after they do, should I recite אל מלך נאמן?

  1. If the Chazan has already repeated the words “Hashem Elokeichem Emet,” you should say “Kel Melech Ne’eman” when you begin your recitation of the Shema. If the Chazan has not yet said “Hashem Elokeichem Emet,” you should begin the Shema with “Shema Yisrael”.
