Plastic Cover for Mezuzah Scroll

Question

My mezuzah scroll came to me unrolled, in a vacuum-sealed plastic. My question is, can I roll up the mezuzah while inside the protective plastic… Or must I take it out of the plastic, roll it, and then put the plastic back on?

    If the plastic is flexible then there is no treason not to roll up the Mezuzah as is. If the plastic is not completely flexible, it is not a good idea to use it, because you will have to exert force to roll it up, which could damage the letters and render the Mezuzah invalid.
