How We Use Our Time

What is the Judaism’s view on how we spend our time on things, like philosophy, music, personal growth, self-mastery, gardening, spending time with animals, etc.?

  1. Judaism teaches that a person’s main concern and focus should be on their spiritual growth. However, Judaism also teaches that people should involve themselves in pastimes that they enjoy and that give them intellectual and physical stimulation. Of course, that does not mean that every single thing is permitted, but it does leave an enormous selection of things that a person can do.

    We are taught that we have been placed in this beautiful, physical world so that we can enjoy its delights. One of the tasks that we have here in this world is to learn how to enjoy ourselves in the most wholesome and spiritually uplifting way possible.
