Car Rental

Question

HI. I recently made a car rental reservation for an upcoming trip. I only have to pay when I pick up the car and can cancel the reservation before that. I then found a lower price with another company. Can I make a reservation with the 2nd company but still keep the first one, just in case there is an issue with the 2nd company when I get there?

    If the car-rental firm’s policy is that your reservation only becomes obligatory when you pick up the car then, according to Jewish Law, you can hold on to the original reservation (the assumption is that the car-rental firm knows perfectly well that you may find a lower price elsewhere and therefore they are prepared to take the risk).
