    The Jewish nation ate a festive meal actually before leaving Egypt.

    Moses, when he went to Pharaoh, did not tell him they needed to leave Egypt for a feast. Rather, Moses kept telling Pharaoh that they need to go out of Egypt in order to worship God and to offer up offerings to Him.
