Question
Hi Rabbi, I hope you are well. I've got a question that I haven't received a satisfactory answer to, yet, and am wondering if you might know. In Rambam's introduction to Mishneh Torah, he lists the mesorah of the Torah She'Baal Peh, and says Pinchas was the link between Yehoshua and Eli (HaKohen). However, there is a gap of over 300 years between Yehoshua and Eli, over which the book of Judges covers the limited leadership in Israel over that period. Did Pinchus live that entire time?

Question
Shalom, I would like to hear from a Rabbi (using the Tanakh, not the internet), the names of the Patriarchs listed in order from Adam to Noah, and especially the meanings of their names listed in order. For instance, in Bereshit (Genesis) - Chapter 3 verse 20 "And the man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all life" seems to imply that the Tanakh itself defines the name Eve as meaning "the mother of all life". https://www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/8167/jewish/Chapter-3.htm Adam appears to mean man (in my humble opinion, but cannot point to a specific definition verse as explicitly stated for Eve). Actually Bereshit (Genesis) - Chapter 5 verse 2 may be an acceptable definition for Adam means "man" https://www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/8169/jewish/Chapter-5.htm Please show (at least 1 verse for each Patriarch) where the Tanakh defines their name meanings. Thank you very much.

Question
If Noah’s family were the only flood survivors then does that mean all Jewish people are descendants of Noah and his Jewish wife? Are gentiles descended from a gentile wife of a son of Noah?

Question
Asenath was Joseph's wife and the mother of their sons. Genesis 41:45 Asenath the daughter of Poti phera, the governor of On Potiphar, Pharaoh's chamberlain (1) Were Potiphera and Potiphar the same person? Some commentaries say yes, but it does not make sense to me. (2) Were Ephraim and Menashe twins? (3) Why is the traditional blessing for boys "May you be like Ephraim and Menashe." versus "May you be like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Thanks.

Question
I just read what was sent to me as a Midrash Chanuka. It told the story about Matityahu's daughter Hanna who was getting ready to marry and at her wedding she undressed and scolded her brothers and others for them being more concerned about seeing her naked than worrying about her impending rape by the Greek governor that night, as was custom. Did this really happen? Thanks

Question
Genesis 25:32 And Esav said, Behold,I am at the point to die: and what "profit" shall this "birthright" bring me? Why did Esav hate Yaaqov? Esav willing forfeited his first born blessing for lentils. Genesis 25:34 Then Ya aqov gave Esav bread and cottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up and went his way: thus Esav "despised" his birthright. Did Esav intend to keep his vow to his brother? If so, why was Esav angered when Yaaqov received the promised blessing? Would this oath between the brothers been binding in Isaac eyes? Yaaqov wore a rough hairy garment to deceive. This raises the question of the legitimacy of the vow according to Torah law.

Question
Hi. What do you think about Job? Was he a prophet? Islam says yes, Catholics say he’s a folktale. Certainly he is at least a priest in the end, yes? How does the language it was written in compare to other examples of ancient Hebrew? Was Job a descendant of Abraham, or did he predate him? Speaking of Abraham, when God tells him to kill the son he loves, was God expecting him to take Ishmael, and is Abraham testing God back by bringing the miraculous child to the sacrifice? Thanks!
