Prayer for Peace at Wedding

Question

Hello –

My sister’s wedding is in a week and she would like me to lead a prayer for peace (in regards to Israel and the world) during the ceremony. Would Oseh Shalom be appropriate for this?

Thank you!

  1. First, Mazal Tov! May your sister and her fiancé merit to build a Bayit Ne’eman b’Yisrael – a beautiful Jewish home – and may Hashem bless them with many, many years of health, contentment and continued growth together.

“Oseh Shalom” is definitely a beautiful prayer and very apt. You might want to add an additional prayer for all those who are currently missing – that they be brought home safely and very, very soon. Perhaps it would also be correct to add a prayer for all the soldiers and all those in the security forces. And for all the civilians who have been injured and displaced.

May your entire family and all of us be blessed with peace and always hear only good reports.
