Question
I am having trouble with my roommate. He is a vegetarian, which in itself is not the problem. In fact, I respect him for it. He is just very militant about it and has a "holier than thou" attitude about eveything. He is constantly and zealously judging mutual friends for their lifestyle, calling them bad just because they want to have a higher paying job or calls them "wasters" because they take public transportation to work instead of riding bikes like he does. I try not to judge him as he is allowed to have his opinion but it bothers me when he says such bad things about people as if he is so far above them. While I have respect for his lifestyle, I can't help but be angry by his attitude to fellow humans. The worst thing is how he makes fun of the Hispanics and the Hasidic Jews in our neighborhood, he knows it bothers me. Though I am not Hasidic, I am still Jewish and feel he is insulting me when he insults them. I don't want to judge him like he judges other people, but what do I say? I keep telling him that his attitude is bothers me, but he continues to present the same opinions to me. What should I do?
