I am not Jewish. My boyfriend is Orthadox. We have been dating for over a year and we have discussed very seriously marriage and children. Since we have been dating my boyfriend has not put forth any effort to teach me about his religion. He hardly celebrates holidays, never has shabot dinner. I have learned on my own through the internet, and books. I even bought him a very nice minora for Chanukah and he never lit it. So I have kind of given up on the situation. Now his mother came into town the other day and told me that I have to convert. I just dont know what to think or do. It s like his family is telling us what to do and he says that he is religious, but he is not. Also, it seems like every Jewish person I have talked to about conversion just dont want people to convert. I just dont understand. Please help me.
