A man is teaching Christians that ‘the Rabbis call The Angel of The Lord (and / or Theophany) the metatron.

Is this commonly believed in Judaism?

Otherwise, who or what is the metatron?

    There are a number of Midrashic sources (see Otzar Hamidrashim Metatron) that describe the angel Metatron as the ascended Chanoch, as mentioned in Genesis 5:24. Metatron is also mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud, in Tractate Chagigah, but very little detail is found.
