Any horn from a Kosher animal except for a cow is acceptable for making a Shofar. In general, the horns that are recommended are from rams, goats or antelopes.
Some people are careful to use a ram’s horn since the original Shofar that was blown came from the ram that Abraham found caught in the thicket, which he offered up as a sacrifice to God in place of his son, Isaac.
