Kosher

Question

Hello,

Have a quick question about artificially flavoured food.

There are so many pork flavoured substitutes, even if they are made out of other meat.

Are any of these kinds of products kosher?

    If the meat that is being used to substitute for the pork is Kosher, i.e. it has been ritually slaughtered and Kashered, and the entire product has Kashrut supervision from a recognized Kashrut authority, it would be Kosher. Otherwise, it is not Kosher.

    Do such products exist? I do not know. You would be better served asking that particular question to one of the large Kashrut organizations, such as the OU (www.ou.org) or the London Beth Din (www.kosher.org.uk) for specific information.
