Grandmother Camping with Grandson
Would it be permitted to take my adult grandson on a camping trip?
When my husband was alive, we went camping together often. It was one of our favorite things to do since we were young and we had lots of good times together that are still in my memories. Since his death, it is something I really miss. I still want to go camping. The only relative of mine who shares my passion is my 24-year-old grandson, and I am very close to him. We want to go on a trip around the country together in my camping trailer, but I am concerned about tzniut issues because the trailer I have lacks a private place for either of us to change our clothes. It has a (kosher) kitchen, a dining area, a very small bathroom with a shower, a bed, and a sofa that can turn into another bed.
I feel comfortable going with my grandson more than anyone else because he is young and can keep me safe and do a lot of the driving. I am 71, and even if my husband were alive now, I’m not even sure if I would have been traveling with him much longer.

There are no specific Halachic prohibitions involved in your camping plans. Personally, I think that you should make absolutely certain that your grandson is happy with the arrangement before you make any definitive plans!

Thanks so much for the answer. My grandson is excited about going on this trip. A friend suggested hanging a movable curtain from the ceiling to allow for privacy when we change our clothes.
That is a wonderful idea if it is possible.
