Gel Nail Polish: Mikveh

Question

Hi. I heard from several friends that if a woman gets a no chip gel manicure she does not have to take off the nail polish for going to the mikvah because it’s considered attached to the nail. Is this correct? I’ve never heard of this before until recently.

    If it is impossible to wait until after immersing before getting a gel manicure, there are some authorities who permit immersion on condition that there are no gaps or chips. For those authorities who permit immersion, they add a condition that the manicure be touched up within three days of the immersion.

    Due to the fact that there are several different Halachic approaches to the issue, it would be prudent for anyone wishing to immerse to contact the Mikveh in advance to make sure that they permit such immersions.
