    The Sages explain that envy is a very negative trait, and that one of the extra prayers that can be recited within another prayer asks that we not be envious of others and that others not be envious of us.

    What can a person do when they are already the focus of someone else’s envy? They should try to treat them with respect, and even friendship, in the hope that will help dispel their envy. But they should also be a little careful around them, as one can never be quite sure what an envious person may do.
