Question

Does somebody fulfill the Mitzvah of Chinuch if they get a rabbi or day school at a synagogue to teach their children Jewish ritual/halacha? Or is it necessary for them to teach children themselves without outside help

  1. In theory, every parent is obligated to instill in their child a reverence and love for Hashem and mitzvahs. When a parent opts to let a third party do the job, they are, in a sense, abdicating their parental obligation. However, for many parents it is not possible for them to teach their children to love Judaism, as they were never taught to love it themselves and were never exposed to the beauty and the majesty of Judaism. In such cases, the best thing they can do is to let their children be taught to love Hashem by those who are capable of doing so.
