Eating From Untoiveled Dishes
I have an uncle and aunt I haven’t seen in many years. They invited me to spend the holidays with them. I want to see them, but I am concerned about their kashrus practices. They claim to keep kosher and be affiliated with Chabad, but they admit they do not tovel their dishes because they are too busy to do so. Is it a problem to eat in their household off dishes that have not undergone tevila?
Answers
It is permissible for you eat off of their dishes as you are only there temporarily and they are not your dishes. However, if you wish to do an enormous Mitzvah you should offer to toivel all their dishes whilst you are there. Hopefully they will agree as it sounds as if the only reason they haven’t done it is because they don’t have the time.
