Bowing in Prayer

In a Sabbath service, is one supposed to bow when the word Baruch is recited since Berech means knee?

    It is true that the word Baruch and the word Berech are closely related. However, we are not supposed to bow every time the word Baruch is said. The only time that we are instructed to bow is during the recitation of the Silent Amidah (also known as the Shemoneh Esrei prayer). We bow twice for the first two blessings, once for the paragraph beginning with the word Modim and once for the Blessing that follows it. The obligation to bow is for every single recitation of the Amidah – regardless of whether it is said on Shabbat or during the week.
