Birkat Kohanim Through Phone

Question

Can a Kohen fulfill the mitzvah of blessing a Jew through Birkat kohanim if the Jew is hearing him through a phone?

    It is a debate among the Poskim but the general consensus seems to be that a person cannot fulfil an obligation by hearing a Brachah via the telephone. Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, Minchas Shlomo 1:9, rules that one should not answer amen to a Brachah heard on the telephone.
