Question
Dear Rabbi, The Chanukah miracle: A flask with one night’s oil burned for eight nights. But since there was oil for one night, the miracle actually lasted only seven nights! So why is Chanukah eight nights and not seven? Thank you and Happy Chanukah

Question
Does facetime or Zoom work for pirsumei nisa? Specifically, if I get home late at night and my family is sleeping the halacha requires to wake someone up to have pirsumei nisa. Can I facetime a friend to watch me light?

Question
Good afternoon, I was hoping I might be able to ask you guys if there might be a general purpose book for Torah studies, that would be useful for gentile studies? Long story short, I'm trying to find my Faith, and as a person I feel like the only way to know where you're going is to know where you've been, and that means that the Torah is important context to be able to fully see the New Testament in the proper light. To me, anyway. I'd be appreciative of anything that might have translations, but I'm mostly hoping for something that has a good index of commentaries from noted scholars in English if possible. Thank you in advance, your time is appreciated.

Question
What are the Jewish laws about dating someone you just met and became friendly with versus using a shadchan to find a spouse? I am in college now. There is a Hillel on the campus, and I have dated a few Jewish girls I met in the Hillel. I want to get married someday. This is not just for fun. So far, I not clicked with any of them, and no one I know there seems like someone I want to marry, but I would not have known that unless I dated them. My parents think what I am doing is wrong. They think it is forbidden to date anyone you are not matched up with through a shadchan. They were matched up by a shadchan themselves and they believe it is the only permissible way to meet one’s spouse. The Hillel rabbi is not orthodox. I would like an answer from an orthodox rabbi.
