Sequence of Shofar Notes

Question

How do we know from the written Torah the exact sequence of shofar notes we are supposed to blow when all the Torah commands us to do is to blow the shofar and provides no details on how many times to blow it or what the notes should sound like?

    The Talmud in Tractate Rosh Hashana discusses the various options as to what the Torah is referring to when it states “teruah”. The three different notes that we have were decided on by Our Sages as being the three notes that best reflect the Torah’s meaning. Together with that, Our Sages decided in what order the notes should be blown.
