Egg Donation from Mamzer
Question
According to Halacha, is it permissible for a Jewish woman who is a Mamzer to donate her eggs to help a non-Mamzer Jewish woman who is infertile? Or no, because Mamzerim are prohibited from “entering the congregation of Israel” would it be prohibited? If permissible, would the children be mamzerim or no?
Answers
Rav Moshe Feinstein rules, Even HaEzer 10, that a problem of “Mamzerut” only occurs when the child is conceived in the normal way. If the sperm is introduced to the woman indirectly, there is no problem of “Mamzerut”. However, if there is a practical dimension to your question, it must be addressed to a Posek who is a recognized expert in the field.
