Lighting Yahrzeit Candles

Question

Is it mandatory to light yarzheit candles for deceased relatives? I am asking because it is not always convenient for me to do so.

    Most people have the custom to light a Yahrzeit candle for a deceased parent. For anyone other than a deceased parent, it is a noble thing to do but it is not an obligation of any kind.
