    If there is no Levi present then the Kohen who was called up receives the Aliyah for Levi as well. The Gabbai calls out “Ein Kan Levi. Ya’amod Bimkom Levi – There is no Levi. Stand up instead of the Levi”.
    If there is no Kohen present there is no obligation to give the first Aliyah to a Levi (although there is no reason not to) and the first person being honored with an Aliyah is called up in a similar way to the first scenario – “Ein Kan Kohen. Ya’amod {the name of the person]”.
