Passing Baby from Person to Person

Question

Shalom aleichem Rabbi Lauffer.  Has Rabbi Lauffer ever heard of a minhag not to pass a baby from one person to another?  If so, is this minhag written in any halacha sefer or any other sefer and is there a reason for it?

Also, would it be permitted to write divrei chol in a notebook where one has copied divrei Torah from seforim into it, as long as he writes the divrei chol on pages in the notebook that have no divrei Torah?  And if this would not be permitted, would tearing out the pages that have divrei Torah allow him to write divrei chol in the notebook?  Thanks a lot.  If Rabbi Lauffer can email me the answer that would be great because I don’t get the automatic email ever since the site was redesigned.  Thank you.

  1. No, I have never heard of such a custom. The only thing that I can think of is when the mother of the baby is niddah – it is forbidden for the husband to directly pass anything to his wife at that time.

Yes, that is fine – especially when the Divrei Chol are written on separate pages.

I will try to email the answers when a technical issue is resolved. The new system is so secure that I cannot access your email address from the system!
